The Wayne Pike Adult Literacy Program is a volunteer, non-profit organization under the aegis of ProLiteracy America. It was founded in 1986 by two local volunteers whose vision for the future included a literate society in which every citizen could be a well-informed voter. Our goal is to help people improve their lives so that they might reach their fullest potential. We provide adult populations of both Wayne and Pike counties with reading, writing, and math skills. Tutoring is on a one-to-one basis with those who have no reading skills, as well as for adults with limited skills, people for whom English is their second language, and also those who wish to attain the equivalent of a high school diploma (GED). Our programs extend to both the Wayne and Pike County Jails. Our program covers over 1,200 square miles.

We are always looking for volunteers to train to become tutors. Please call for more information.
