For more than 30 years, the Center for Developmental Disabilites (CDD) of Pike County, LTD. has provided educational, therapeutic and family support services for children with developmental delays and disabilities from birth to kindergarten age. Our grass roots response began with one woman, a nurse, who visited families and helped them access information and services. This support was informal and often based on word of mouth, from family to family. As our program has evolved, we have expanded our program to serve all children eligible for pre-kindergarten services through a variety of programs and as a fee-for-service program. It is our goal to maximize every child's potential. We believe every child deserves the opportunity for growth and development in a setting that meets their individual needs and concerns. We are committed to supporting children and their families by providing programs and services that are developmentally and appropriate and individualized for each child. CDD does not reject or eject a child for behavioral issues. Occupational and physical therapy, speech services and behavioral consultations are integrated into the classroom program to support the achievement of developmental and learning outcomes for children with and without disabilities. Our family support services work closely with parent and caregivers of children to ensure positive parent-child relationships. Additionally, family support services provide education and information regarding additional community services and facilitate a family’s access to those community services.
CDD is a licensed Early Care and Education Center by the Department of Public Welfare as a Specialized Day Care Center. CDD is a Pennsylvania STARS Three Early Care and Education site. STARS is a commonwealth of Pennsylvania initiative recognizing Early Care and Education programs that exceed licensing requirements in programming, health and safety practices. Currently CDD is the only STARS Three early care and education site in Pike County.Base
